Each Wednesday at 11:00am we take up the study of the assigned texts for the following Sunday. All are welcome in this lively discussion and informative session.
What Makes Luke Luke? And Other Questions about many people's favorite Gospel
An in-depth study
Just in time as the Lectionary changes over to a heavy emphasis on Luke readings, Saint James is offering a comprehensive and in-depth study of Luke for those who want to know more. Led by The Reverend Dan Wilson, we will investigate the six titles given to Jesus in Luke’s Gospel, whether this may be the first feminist gospel, and attitudes toward wealth, political power and multi-culturalism found in this gospel. Luke’s hermeneutic, his eschatology and unique view of history make this book worth digging into on a deeper level. Look for future announcements in coming months.
Participants can attend either time as they choose. Each month gather for 2 ½ hours on the following dates: January 13 / January 14; February 10/February 11; March 10 / March 11; April 14 / April 15.
All Sunday groups will begin at 2 PM and all Monday groups will begin at 10 AM. Participants are free to switch group affiliation in a given month to accommodate their personal schedules. Contact the church office (706 782-6179) for study guides and homework assignments.
